Panel Discussion on “Women in Night Shifts : Safety vs Opportunity”

HRD Forum of Vidarbha Industries Association (VIA) in association with NIPM Nagpur Chapter, organized an insightful virtual panel discussion on “Women in Night Shifts : Safety vs Opportunity” on January 6, 2026, via Zoom.

The session focused on the evolving role of women working in night shifts, highlighting the balance between safety concerns and equal employment opportunities in today’s competitive environment.

The program began with a warm welcome and introduction of the eminent panellists by Neelam Bowade, Convener of VIA HRD Forum, who conducted the proceedings.

Dr Suresh Pandilwar, Chairman of VIA HRD Forum, moderated the panel discussion and steered the session with insightful questions, encouraging active interaction among the panellists and participants.

Pallavi Gampawar, Deputy Director, Industrial Safety & Health, Amravati, shared her views based on the rules and guidelines of the state Government for women working in night shifts. She elaborated on statutory compliance, safety norms, and employer obligations.

Harini Srinivasan, Partner, Semcostyle Institute India LLP, Mumbai, spoke positively about women working night shifts and shared real-life examples, especially from the healthcare sector. She cited how nurses efficiently and responsibly perform night shift duties, proving that women can work effectively during night hours when adequate support systems are in place.

Vibhuti Pandya, HR Head of Atlas Copco, Pune, expressed her concerns regarding women’s safety and organizational responsibility. She emphasized that providing night-shift opportunities must be accompanied by robust safety measures, secure transport, and strong accountability from employers.

The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from HR professionals, industry leaders, and members of VIA and NIPM, making it highly interactive and informative.
