Vidarbha Region, in the state of Maharastra, comprises of Nagpur, Amaravati, Akola, Yavatmal, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Wardha, Gadchiroli, Bhandara, Gondia, Washim Disticts, with the focal point at Nagpur.


Nagpur city can be aptly called “ZERO MILE CITY” of India due to its geographical location. Nagpur city is located on the crossings of the country’s North-South & East-West Broad Gauge Track, Rail Routes & National Highways (NH6 – Mumbai – Calcutta & NH7 Kasmir – Kanyakumari) and lies on the major National & International air route corridor.

Nagpur has one of best infrastructure in the form of roads, modern airport, most connected railway station, several educational institutions including 10 engineering colleges, 5 medical colleges and host of other institutions, a developed trade mandi for agriculture produce, steel and many other products.

Just 14 Kms. from Municipal limits of Nagpur city is Butibori, tipped as the largest industrial esate in Asia, which is spread over an area of 2500 Hectares. A further 2000 Hectares of New Butibori adds on the massive development plans for the future. Units like Indo Rama, Acc Nihon, Woolworth, Fabworth, Whirlpool, Morarjee Mills, KEC, Dinshaws have already commenced operation with other industry giants waiting in the wings. Soon Nagpur will stretch to Butiburi, to make it one single large entity.

Government of Maharashatra declared and developing Butibori with five star facilities to attract NRI investment. A large area is already earmarked under privatisation for industrial township by NRIs.

City & Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) of Maharashtra is developing the 9300 Hectares “New Nagpur” township called “Meghdoot”. It is at a distance of around 12 Km. from Nagpur on National Highway No. 7. Meghdoot, near Butibori is a novel attempt to ensure development of a modern township with the involvement of the farmers on whose lands it will come up. The Chief Minster of Maharashtra had laid the foundation stone of the project on 11th March, 19973 This new Nagpur is planned with a idea to accomodate nearly 8 lakhs people. A golden opportunity to invest in this Meghdoot for Housing, Commercial Complex, Hospitals & Hostels.

CIDCO is out to develop a model on around a 100 Hectares within the township. For the remaining land. CIDCO will lay infrastructural facilities like electricity, water supply, roads, drainage & thepeople will be free to create housing & commercial complexes based on the 100 Hectares CIDCO model. Further the department plans to construct a super highway connecting Butibori Industrial estate to Nagpur Airport & extend it upto Kalmeshwar, another industrial estate.


Nandgaonpeth Industrial Area, about 140 Kms. from Nagpur in Amravati region is being developed as a Chemical Zone. It is spread over 2800 Hectares. 50% land of this area has been acquired. MIDC has already taken possession of 1700 Hectares. Infrastructure development such as Roads, Water supply etc. is in progress. It is expected to completed with a year. MIDC has taken up this on war footing with the object of making it a Chemical Zone of International standard.

All amenities required by industries and especially Chemical industries will be provided by the M.I.D.C. The MIDC would ensure that the effluents of the chemical plants are properly treated and safely disposed off. It has also been planned to carry out large scale afforestation in the zone in order to maintain healthy environment in and around the chemical zone.
