GeM makes way for transparent, paperless transactions

Marketing Forum of Vidarbha Industries Association had organized a presentation cum live demonstration on “Government E-Market place (GeM) Portal, an easy way to sale to Govt. sector” by Mr. Gajendra Bharti, General Manager of District Industries Centre, Nagpur.

Bharti during his talk highlighted that annual Government purchases are more than 4 Lac crores. He mentioned that in today’s digital era, Government procurement system is also undergoing change from traditional manual system to paperless, cashless and transparent digital system.

During the talk, he explained that both the buyers and sellers are required to register on the GeM portal. He explained the process of registering online in details. He also highlighted the features of the portal and said that it will pave way for one time easy online registration, swift transaction system, dynamic pricing and the best part is the transparency that the system shall provide. The payment shall be transferred within 10 days after the delivery of the product. This system shall transform the restricted market place to an open for all market place. With this system in place, now the Government procurement shall become efficient and transparent. Government shall be provided with services, products in right time, right quality, right quantity, and right price, to name a few benefits.

He further explained the portal in detail and mentioned that this portal once fully functional shall definitely boost the Made in India products and increase digital cashless and paperless transactions. He mentioned that the help desk is there to support and provide solutions in case of any problems that one might encounter during the various steps involved in supplying products and services to Government. He also explained the L1 purchase, Bidding and Reverse auction. He further explained about the audit benefits.

He also gave a demonstration of how to register and create seller’s account. He said that it is always better to completely fill up the information required to avoid future dilemma.

At the outset, Mr. O. S. Bagdia, Vice-President, VIA welcomed Mr.Gajendra Bharti while Opening remarks were given by Mrs. Shilpa Agrawal, Chairperson, VIA Marketing Forum. The Program was conducted by  Ms. Shikha Khare, Convener, Marketing Forum while  Mr. Akash Agrawal, Chairperson, Entrepreneurship Forum moderated the session. This programme received an overwhelming response and was attended by young entrepreneurs, students, businessman, retailers, Industrialists in large numbers.
