Two days Workshop on “Digital Marketing – A Necessity for Entrepreneurs”,

‘Content & Creativity’ must for success in Digital marketing

VIA Lady Entrepreneurs’ Wing organised a two-day workshop on ‘Digital Marketing’ at VIA Hall, Nagpur. Mrs Varsha Thakare, Chairperson of Women and Children Welfare Committee was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, she said, the importance and usefulness of digital marketing has increased. Maximum people are aware about the digitisation but lack in knowledge of digital marketing. They should market their products by using available digital tools.

Mrs Pragati Gokhale, Principal Scientific Officer of Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Rural Industrialization (MGIRI) explained in detail about digital marketing and website development. Digital marketing is extremely cost effective as compared to print media and one can reach target audience. She also explained the importance of analytics to understand the impact of the post on the audience. She suggested that whether one’s website is static or dynamic, it should definitely be responsive or mobile friendly as today mostly people view websites from their smart phones.

She said that one should not go for Apps as downloading an App needs a lot of memory space and hence not preferred by people. One can design one’s website using wordpress. She said that one should keep short and sweet domain name that people can remember. She also suggest to have web analytics in place to keep a track on number of visitors, bounce rate as this can come handy in framing the marketing strategy.

Mrs Gokhale suggested the use of various social media networks like Linked in, Facebook for promoting business. She also suggested to take the benefit of websites like Market Mirchi, Rural Haat for selling products on-line. She further said that story telling or relevant content could help in engaging target audience. Story telling could be done using blogs. She recommended websites such as blogger.com, bloggeradda.com. She suggested that Quora can be used for lead generation. For e-mail marketing, she recommended the use of mail chimp and also suggested the use of e-mail extractor software. She also explained about Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and reaching organic target audience through algorithms. She further added the use of adwords as an option for Search Engine marketing.

Mrs Saniya Pervez, BE and research intern, VNIT, explained in detail the various social media platforms available like Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, Linkedin, Youtube, Pinterest. She suggested the use of flash software for preparing GIFS. She suggested that the creatives to be shared with the target audience should be simple and out of the box. She suggested that one should not market one’s product directly. “Good sense of humor works well to connect with the audience. Daily updates/engagement is must to keep the audience glued,” she noted. Explaining about Instagram, she suggested one should make use of creative hashtags. “There is also an option to create group on Instagram. Twitter is a platform to share correct and technical knowledge and one should not directly pitch one’s product on Twitter,” he added. She said that one should take care that Youtube videos are not monotonous. She also suggested that one should not try to use all the platforms together as one would not be able to justice to it.

Earlier, Mrs Shachi Mallick, Chairperson of VIA LEW welcomed Mrs Varsha Thakare, Mrs Pragati Gokhale and Mrs Saniya Pervez. The inauguration was done traditionally by lighting the lamp. The programme was conducted by Mrs Manisha Bawankar and Mrs Vandana Sharma. Vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs Reeta Lanjewar, Secretary of VIA LEW. The programme was attended by large number of entrepreneurs, students and housewives.

‘Human to human Interaction’: Key to successful Digital Marketing

VIA Lady Entrepreneurs Wing organised a two day Workshop on Digital Marketing .On second day, the workshop was conducted by Mr. Anurag Kulkarni, CEO, SA Digital Films Pvt. Ltd. Dr. P B Kale, Director, MGIRI, Wardha was the guest for the Valedictory Program.

Anurag Kulkarni said that people like interaction. He said that stories are the best way to go forward especially with respect to Digital marketing and he further added that one should not wait for too long but rather go ahead with trial and error.

Anurag advised the audience to think big and said that one should be aware of one’s USP. He also explained the difference between marketing and sales. He said that Brand is the value that you perceive in your mind. He also mentioned the 4 P’s of marketing and explained the fifth ‘P’ of participation applicable in case of Digital Marketing. Mindless promotion does not work now days, he added. In today’s digital era, the concept of B2B or B2C no longer exists; rather it is the time for H2H i.e. Human to Human.

Anurag also explained the concept of Inbound marketing in details. It helps customers buy the product that they feel they need. For creating a brand, make customers want to commit to something they believe in, he added.

Anurag gave a few tips to excel in digital marketing. He mentioned that one should not blindly copy what others are doing. Meaningful engagement really matters a lot. Its better to hide some facts in the communication that is sent to the target audience to make them approach you for the same. One should be very particular about one’s business and not tolerate anything below standard. He also suggested that one should not be part of the chaos/noise while making use of digital Marketing. Quoting few examples, he said that one should understand the difference between “Working on your business and Working in your business”. This session was followed by a few words by Dr. P .B kale.

Dr.P. B Kale, Director, MGIRI informed the audience about many developed technologies that are available in MGIRI for Rural enterprise and entrepreneurs. Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Rural Industrialization (MGIRI) conducts regular training programs at Wardha for the citizens of India to take benefit of all newly developed technologies and utilize the same for setting up their business and earning profits. He mentioned that MGIRI provides support to upgrade the products of rural industry so that they gain wide acceptability in the local and global markets.
