About 40 Industries Associations of Maharashtra highlighted the issue of problems pertaining to power at the interaction meeting with Energy Minister Shri Chandrashekhar Bawankule. A memorandum with suggestions was submitted by Shri R B Goenka Chairman Energy Cell – VIA and Shri Pratap Hogade of State Co-ordination Committee. Shri R B Goenka said that recently Maharashtra Government has withdrawn the Power Subsidy, which has resulted into an increase of Power Tariff by 20% from the month of Nov 2014. VIA delegation submitted representation to Hon’ble Chief Minister, Hon’ble Finance Minister and Hon’ble Energy Minister and submitted a proposal with calculations of industrial subsidy with a request to extend rebate to industries for further 3 months from Nov. 2014 to Jan. 2015 since thereafter the IC charges order of MERC shall extinguish. Hon’ble Ministers accepted the suggestions for extending tariff rebate. Shri Chandrashekar Bawankule, assured the industries and other consumers that he will definitely look into the important matter related to power tariff. With respect to extension of rebate he said that there is a cabinet meeting today on this issue and the result shall be pronounced in the evening but he assured that he will convince the cabinet for extending the rebate. With respect to issues of Vidarbha he said that GOM is keen on development of Vidarbha and after Kelkar committee report is tabled Govt. shall take suitable measures for removing backlog in Vidarbha. He further said that he will positively look into the issues raised by VIA with respect to power tariff & other power related issues and find suitable solutions.
Shri Pratap Hogade elaborated issues related to farmers in the State and said that MSEDCL is showing high agriculture consumption and grabbing more subsidy and showing reduced losses. Shri Shantanu Dixit of Prayas suggested that solar generation should be connected to agriculture group feeders which shall help in reduction of agriculture consumption and shall reduce burden of GOM subsidy. Shri. Kiran Paturkar, Shri. PravinTapadia also raised important issues. VIA President, Shri Atul Pande and all the members present in the meeting extended their gratitude and praised the positive attitude of Hon’ble Minister. Shri.
