Interactive Session on
“Opportunities & Challenges of CSR in Vidarbha” held
Acceptance and willing to work by NGO, Corporates and Government Organizations towards synergizing the efforts of all for social-economy development of Vidarbha region is the outcome of this interactive Session organized by Corporate Social Responsibility Forum of Vidarbha Industries Association at VIA. on the “Opportunities & Challenges of CSR in Vidarbha” followed by Panel Discussion on “Role of CSR in Socio-Economic Development of Vidarbha region”
The eminent Panel speakers shared their outlook – Mr Hakimuddin Ali, Managing Director of Calderys India Refractories Ltd, advocated joint efforts of corporates towards the achievement of objectives of strategic CSR. He informed the audience about the benefits of CSR activities conducted by Imerys and Tata Steel. The objective of Imerys – agradual, yet determined, process to improve our environmental and social performance, in all our areas of activity, we have set three-year action plans (2015-2017) to work with focus on areas identified.
Ms. Vaishali Sahastrabudhe, Administration – Wockhardt Heat Hospital, Nagpur has presented the work of Little Heart Foundation for children and their Mission to save young lives from congenital heart defects and she appealed to the audience for raising the fund so that the children of Vidarbha region can also get benefited.
Mr Vilas Thodge, Saksham Disabled Employment Information Centre, in his presentation organization is working with an aim to dedicate itself to the integrated development of all kinds of disabled. Saksham works for specially challenged children, for blind students they are creating audio books and providing writer scribe so that they help blind children in writing their examination. They are providing employment to the disabled employable youths.
Mr Chandrashekhar Chincholkar, Centre for Rural Welfare has emphasized on the need to Focus on Water Conservation thru CSR activities. He said need of the hours are – Water Conservation to ensure recharging of Water in the Earth’s Aquifer. Use of Scientific Techniques like “Ridge to Valley ( Head to Toe )” to ensure real water availability thru Programs like Jal Yukta Shivar of Govt of Maharashtra. Make water available for Farmers, Villagers, Cattles , etc. Possibility of 2 or 3 crops instead of uncertain 1 crop.
Mr. Gajanan Parsodkar, Coordinator of Deendayal Bahuuddeshiya Prasarak Mandal, Yavatmal, presented about their work for educating children of Pardhi Samaj and rehabilitation of farmers families, who committed suicide in Yavatmal.
Mr P B Kale, Director of Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Rural Industrialization, Wardha in his presentation highlighted the work conducted by MGIRI and appealed and invited NGOs, who are working in different areas can visit MGIRI for any guidance.
Mr. Jerry L. Hughes, Founder & Executive Director of Hughes Foundation has enlightened the audience with his NGO’s work for HIV infected people.
Ms Madhu Singhi of Samrupan informed that they are working for orphans’ rehabilitation and organizing workshops on different subjects for uplifting left out women by their husbands.
Earlier, all the eminent guest speakers welcome with flower buds by Mr Hemant Lodha, Chairman, VIA CRS Forum and in his welcome address, he shared the vision and mission of CSR Forum and Challenges of CSR in Vidarbha.
Mr Ashit Sinha, Vice President-VIA, proposed a formal vote of thanks. Dr Vijay Phate, Project Director of VIA CSR Forum conducted the programme and moderated the panel discussion.
Prominent industries of the region are Bajaj Steel Industries Limited, Pix Transmission Ltd., Minor Hydrosystems Pvt Ltd., JSW Steel Coated Ltd, Reliance Power, Mecgale Pneumatic Pvt Ltd., Star Circlips & Energy Ltd., Ank Seals pvt Ltd., along with NGOs were attended the programme in large number.
