Precautions must to go cashless in today’s Digital era

VIA Lady Entrepreneurs Wing organised a talk by CA Kirti Agrawal and Ms. Charu Bhatia on the topic ‘Cashless mantras and Cyber fraud’ under the able leadership of Mrs. Shachi Mallick, President, VIA LEW.

Earlier, CA Kirti Agrawal explained the various modes of transactions. She explained the various ways of digital payment options. She explained in brief about online banking, RTGS, NEFT, E-Wallet, credit cards, Debit cards etc.

She stressed that one should decide the right mode of transacting money depending on few factors, namely, the person with whom one is dealing, the time in which money needs to be given across. She said that one should know the person well in case of digital transaction. It is necessary to know the person well before making any digital transaction as risks start flowing in as soon as we use digital mode.

She also informed the Audience about Unstructured Supplementary Service data based transactions which can be used in times of emergency. She also informed about Unified Payment Interface (UPI).She also explained the difference between various Apps like BHIM, Pay TM that are available today. She stressed that one should download such apps only from authenticated play store/App store. She highlighted that BHIM (Bharat interface for Money) is highly secure app for digital transactions.

She also went on to tell a few Do’s and Don’ts in case of digital transactions. She said that one should not share account details and pin with persons one does not trust. One should regularly update mobile number with bank for receiving updates and one should also check account statement. Most important is to secure mobile with password.

 Ms. Charu Bhatia, Branch head, HDFC Bank said that before demonetization everbody was happy using cash for transactions. She said that digital transactions are very safe and one should not share one’s password with others. She further added that in near future, by linking Aadhar card, thumb impression shall be used to make transactions extremely safe and secure. She stated that digital transactions are safer than cash transactions and one should learn to use it properly. Toll free numbers provided by banks can be used to block your account in case of emergencies.

At the outset, Mrs. Shachi Mallick, President, VIA LEW gave the opening remarks. Earlier, Mrs. Sarla kamdar, Founder President, VIA LEW welcomed CA Kirti Agrawal with floral compliments.
