Clean Air Action – Reducing Emissions from Industries
Capacity Building Program
Dear Sir/ Madam,
VIA & Clean Air Asia, India is jointly organising a Capacity Building Program on “Clean Air Action – Reducing Emissions from Industries” which will be focused on Emission Standards for Industries and Technology Transfer to Reduce the Emission. A full day workshop to be held on 18th March 2020 at Hotel Radisson Blu, Nagpur.
Recently The Ministry of Environment Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has emphasised on national level strategies to reduce air pollution at urban and regional scales and came up with the National Clean Air Program (NCAP)-India. According to the Central Pollution Control Board’s (CPCB) Air Quality Index, Nagpur air pollution levels rose alarmingly in November 2018 to the level of 451. Out of the 32 cities of India which were highlighted in the WHO’s data for the year 2016, Six were in Maharashtra includes Nagpur, Chandrapur, Akola, Amravati & Nagpur came out to be the most polluted city of the state.
Industries have been identified as a major source of emissions in cities. The city air action plan was prepared by the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board with support from NEERI specifies that industry action is essential to achieve clean air action in cities. In view of this, VIA in association with Clean Air Asia, India is taking an initiative to hold a workshop for industries. VIA and Clean Air Asia, India is organizing this workshop to propose ways in which Industries can play a lead role in the implementation of the Air Action Plan.
The workshop will focus on how industry can address emissions, clean technology for reducing air pollution and role of industry in clean air action.
